Consciousness resides in Formless soul, that awakens/expresses the 'self' differently in different living beings as per their protoplasmic limits. Consciousness is essentially the awareness of self from the environment. In biology, 'self' reflects itlself in all living beings, depending on their specialization for fitness among the evolving living beings.
